Socialist

Of course, the big post-election news is that Labour have gained Doctor Who. This result was fuelled by the show’s recent move from capitalist multi-national Virgin Publishing to Public-funded, socialist BBC Publishing. A spokesman for Doctor Who stated last night, “We’re looking forward to the new broom Labour represents. For too long now, we’ve been playing little sister to The X-Files - well, with this new government, ALL THAT’S GOING TO CHANGE!!!! HA-HA!!!” These words have reportedly had pro-zine editors all over the country quaking in their boots this week...

Anti-Sleaze

Babylon 5’s showing betrayed Commander Sheridan’s recent refusal to stand down - despite accusations of meetings with the Shadows, collusion with The Old Ones, etc. - and his apparent death has led to a gain for the Anti-Shadow Sleaze candidate in the form of respected ISN reporter, Cynthia Torqueman, a fly-on-the-wall documentary contract with Channel Four (and a rather dubious Shadow Cabinet.)

As expected, there was nothing new in the Star Trek constituencies. As usual.....

Alien DNA

Unfortunately, The X-Files is still very Tory (squirm!!-ED) For at least two hours it looked certain that Labour would gain this most popular of all Alien DNA / Kennedy Conspiracy / Crop-Circle / Para-normal Phenomenon television dramas. The champagne had begun to flow VERY freely, but the result of a last-minute recount in the smoke-filled returning office - after premature news of the Labour landslide had already been announced by CNN - made sure that the show remained firmly clasped in the mitts of the Conservatives. For ever and ever, probably. Oh, boo-hoo!!

Also-Rans

Lastly, there was bad news in the SF TV Also-Rans Category, as Dark Skies, Space Precinct, Space: Above & Beyond, and Crime Traveller all lost their deposits, though at least Hive have gained John Redwood.....
